My Story

Employed exclusively as a freelance Decorative and Mural Artist for many years, working as a sub contractor to Designers and Decorators as well as undertaking private commissions.

Accustomed to working on projects alone or as part of a team, as a Decorative and Mural Artist I am called upon to utilise a wide range of techniques including, but not limited to, trompe l’oeil, marbling, wood graining, gilding, glazework, colour matching to stencilling.

My portfolio covers numerous prestige buildings in the UK and abroad, from state offices, private residences, stately homes, heritage sites, hotels and other public premises.

My Experience

Recently honoured to work as part of the Hare & Humphreys in-house team on the decorative arts project: the gilding and heraldry of the Queen’s barge, The Gloriana, for the Diamond Jubilee flotilla.

For the Residence of a UK Ambassador overseas, cleaned and restored period decorative paintwork on walls and ceilings, and matched marble.  Similarly for the offices of a foreign Royal Family painted faux distressed gilding on to molded plasterwork.

Decorative and Mural Artist for a number of prestige private residences in London where I executed decorative and architectural trompe l’oeil painting on to walls and ceilings, extensive faux marbling, gilding, paint effects and stenciling.  On one project, wood grained every surface of a large room to create a wood paneled study.

For a Stately Home painted glazework to match wallpaper fabric on to staircase and hallway.  At a major London Museum conserved and retouched painted ceilings.  For a landmark London Hotel painted faux marbling to extend existing marble, and at a London University repaired and restored an existing wall mural.  At a Historic Castle, I am engaged annually to restore their painted furniture.

My Background

Completed Higher Professional Diploma in Creative Arts Level 4 (interior decoration), earning distinctions in all course modules, and as a result awarded City & Guilds Gold Medal for Excellence and Student of the Year at Lambeth School of Construction.

Following this achievement, won The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust from the Royal Warrant Holders Association, which funded in-depth study in France of European decorative techniques with the internationally renowned decorative & mural artist and winner of ‘un des meilleurs ouvriers de France’, Michel Nadai.

My Interests

Drawing on my extensive world travels, interests in classical decorations spanning centuries, continents and cultures, from renaissance Europe to oriental chinoiserie. Am happiest when emulating or reproducing period styles, but equally content to engage in original concepts.

Holder of CSCS card, public liability insurance and full driving licence.  Available for decorative & mural artist projects in London, UK and abroad.
